Common Allergy Culprits

Have you ever heard of corn smut? It is a fungus that grows on mature corn and is a delicacy in some parts of the world. Unfortunately, when the corn is harvested the spores are released into the air and many people have an allergic response.

Do you know that Goldenrod, which is the tall gold colored flowering plants along the road side, is not what causes allergy symptoms in August/September? Ragweed grows in the same environment and often right next to the Goldenrod. Ragweed is one of the major allergens for fall “hayfever” type symptoms.
