Amery High School student helps "Take Down Cancer"

1/15/2015

Randy Shaver, KARE 11 News Anchor, spent time with Amery High School Junior and wrestler Andrew Smith to learn about his "Take Down Cancer" initiative to raise money for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Foundation.

The "Take Down Cancer" event will take place Thursday, January 15, 7:00 p.m., during the home wrestling match against New Richmond. Andrew will be selling "Take Down Cancer" t-shirts at the match.

Cancer fundraising and research is important to Andrew as he was diagnosed with cancer as an 18-month old toddler. His goal is to help raise money and awareness for those suffering from cancer. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.

The mission of the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund is to support the cancer community in Minnesota by funding research, prevention, and treatment and other programs relating to the cancer community's needs.

Amery Hospital & Clinic is a proud supporter!  To donate or to find out more, visit:
