Amery Hospital & Clinic Birth Day Suites Staff is prepared to educate expectant parents on labor, delivery, c-sections, danger signs and complications, as well as post-partum care for both mother and baby.

  • Registration, review of materials
  • Discussion on breathing and relaxation
  • Labor and delivery
  • Interventions and operative birth
  • Post-partum care
  • Infant safety and care
  • Tour of OB department

Saturday Class - 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  (covers all 5 weeks in 1 day)

  • 2017 - October 21
  • 2018 - January 13, April 21, July 14, October 14

Tuesdays for 5 weeks - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

  • September 26 - October 24, 2017

Theses classes are located at Amery Hospital & Clinic and complimentary. All classes are led by registered nurses with experience in OB, along with guest speakers. Relaxation and breathing techniques are included in each class. Call 715-268-0600 or 715-268-8000 to register or please just stop in.


Benefits of Breastfeeding

You have decided to breast feed your baby because you believe that it is best for your baby. What you may not know is that it is also good for you. Amery Hospital & Clinic Birth Day Suites Staff is prepared to support your decision to breast feed with the most current, up-to-date information regarding the benefits of breast-feeding. If you are interested in a breastfeeding consult, please contact Brenda Johnson, CNM, who is a Certified Lactation Consultant.

Breastfeeding classes are available at Amery Hospital & Clinic from 9 a.m. to noon (beginning 2018). Call 715-268-0600 or 715-268-8000  to register or please just stop in.

Breastfeeding Class Dates:

  • 2017 - November 1 (6 to 8 p.m.)
  • 2018 - January 6, April 28, July 21, October 27 (9 a.m. to noon)
* NO FEE - Complimentary Class - includes 2 individuals

Upon request, the Birth Day Suites Staff will provide the nursing mother with information on “Nutrition for the Nursing Mother,” as well as a “Breastfeeding” guide book with topics such as breast feeding positions, nipple care, benefits to both mother and baby, weight loss while breast feeding, planning a healthy diet and when not to breast feed.

The Baby Bistro: Breastfeeding Support Group

Breast milk is best for baby, but breastfeeding has benefits as well as challenges. This group encourages, helps and supports women before, during and after breastfeeding. Led by a certified breastfeeding counselor, who is also a registered nurse and a mother of four, attendees learn from, share with, and support other mothers who are breastfeeding. Newly pregnant women who are considering breastfeeding are encouraged to attend. (starts 9/6/17)
