Classes are held Tuesday evenings from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Amery regional Medical Center. All classes are led by registered nurses with experience in OB, along with guest speakers. Benefits of Breast Feeding
You have decided to breast feed your baby because you believe that it is best for your baby. What you may not know is that it is also good for you. The Amery Regional Medical Center Birth Day Suites Staff is prepared to support your decision to breast feed with the most current, up-to-date information regarding the benefits of breast-feeding. If you are interested in a breastfeeding consult, please contact Brenda Johnson, CNM, who is a Certified Lactation Consultant.

Upon request, the Birth Day Suites Staff will provide the nursing mother with information on “Nutrition for the Nursing Mother,” as well as a “Breast Feeding” guide book with topics such as breast feeding positions, nipple care, benefits to both mother and baby, weight loss while breast feeding, planning a healthy diet and when not to breast feed.

Mother/Baby Care
Planning for your baby’s care is important. And, equally important is planning for mother’s care throughout pregnancy, during labor and delivery, plus taking care of mom once the baby is home. At Amery Regional Medical Center, the Birth Day Suites Staff will guide you to information that will answers your questions regarding how to choose a healthcare provider for your baby, making a decision on infant feeding, circumcision, abdominal incision care (if you’ve had a cesarean), safety preparations for baby in the car and at home, etc.
