Health and Wellness Classes/Programs


Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
Amery Regional Medical Center is an authorized training center for the American Heart Association and is offering the official AHA ACLS learning program. HeartCode ACLS offers an alternative to the traditional ACLS class. HeartCode ACLS offers a convenient method for obtaining an American Heart Association ACLS certification. Providers can complete the course at their own pace, on their own schedule, saving time and money. (CME/CE/CEH credit included.) PART 1 is the online portion of the program and MUST be completed before taking the skills check off (Part 2). Online Registration ($150) includes access to the AHA HeartCode ACLS software, courseware (Part 1), and skills check off (Part 2).

HeartCode® BLS Part 1
Amery Regional Medical Center is an authorized training center for the American Heart Association. HeartCode® BLS Part 1 is a web-based, self-paced instructional program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision making and skills development. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each simulation to facilitate learning.

After completing the cognitive portion of the course, students practice and test their skills with an AHA Instructor or on a voice-assisted manikin (VAM) system. The course fee is $75.00 - register online. Participants complete Part 1 online and Part 2 is onsite at the West Campus (230 Deronda Street, Amery) using computerized manikins. Please call 715-268-0290 reserve a time to use the manikin. Upon successful completion of the cognitive and skills tests, students receive a course completion card.

HeartCode BLS Part 1 Course Content:
  • Key changes in basic life support, reflecting new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
  • Critical concepts of high-quality CPR
  • The American Heart Association Chain of Survival
  • 1-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
  • 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
  • Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques
  • Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant
  • Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant
  • Relief of choking for adult, child and infant
  • CPR with an Advanced Airway*
* This is an introduction to the compression and ventilation rates for a patient who has an advanced airway in place. For more information on advanced airways, please refer to the Airway Management Course.


Cardiac Rehab, Education and Support Group
This total program has been developed for people who have suffered a heart attack and for their families. Topics include anatomy and physiology, medication, nutrition, exercise, lifestyle, and new developments/trends in treating heart disease, stress, and other factors.

Diabetes Program and Support Group
The focus of this on-going group is to assist in the understanding of the disease and to help prevent complications.

Expectant Parent Class
The objectives of the class are to prepare you for danger signs, labor and delivery, complications, and c-sections. There is discussion on post-partum cares of both mother and infant and you will develop a good understanding of TOT Saver Techniques.

Nutrition Counseling
Counseling is available on a one-to-one basis involvig weight control, diabetes, hypoglycemia, hypertension, underweight, heart disease, prenatal, infant and child nutrition, food allergies and eating disorders.

Pediatric Orientation and Children’s Health Fairs
Children may be brought into all areas of the facility, with staff explanations and demonstrations, all combined to make sure children are not afraid of coming into the hospital because they leave after experiencing positive learning experiences.

Sports Medicine Program
The Sports Medicine Program is provided at no cost to the student or the high school. Amery Regional Medical Center is absorbing the cost to provide the sports medicine program on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The ARMC Sports Medicine Program is designed to provide the students with early intervention and comprehensive treatment for athletic injuries as well as help the healthy athlete enhance his or her performance through strength and agility conditioning. The program also focus's on injury prevention techniques.

Dr.Gehrig Williamson, Family Medicine; Dr. Anthony Hall, Chiropractic and Tony Gould, Physical Therapist and Director of Rehabilitation Services alsong with Orthopedic Clinical Specialist have teamed up to provide a sports medicine program sponsored by Amery Regional Medical Center for the students of Amery and Clear Lake High Schools. The team works closely with the coaches, parents, family healthcare provider and athletes to facilitate a return to competition as quickly and as safely as possible.
