May is Mental Health Month
Since 1949, Congress has officially recognized May as” Mental Health Month.” During these challenging times in our world, more and more people report that they are struggling in their lives-financially, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
To promote your own mental health during these challenging times the following tips will help:
- Set attainable goals – Don’t over extend yourself, make ”to do” lists concentrating on the most important tasks and eliminating the non-important tasks
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle – Eat right, exercise, get enough sleep, take medications as prescribed, if needed, follow your physician’s recommendations
- Spend time with family and friends – Doing so will boost your spirits
- Reduce stress – Identify those things that cause you stress and come up with a healthy plan to deal with those things. For example: If you have a bad day at work, you can go home and play with your children
- Ask for help – Allow others to help you when they offer and seek out help when you need it
Mental Health is important in living your life to its fullest. For further information, please call the ARMC Behavioral Health Center at (715) 268-0069. |
