Seasonal Flu Vaccine Update...
Due to an overwhelming response, Amery Regional Medical Center is out of all seasonal flu vaccine, except for those 6 months to 36 months of age. Vaccine is available for this age group only.

H1N1 VACCINE INFORMATION:
Amery Regional Medical Center has received a limited supply of the H1N1 vaccine for the targeted groups listed below. Since the current vaccine supply is not adequate to meet the demand of the Centers for Disease Control vaccine target groups, the Department of Health Services recommends that health professionals vaccinate the following within these target groups:

• Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material
• Pregnant women
• Children age 6 months to adults 24 years of age
• Persons who live with or provide care for infants age 6 months or younger, such as parents, siblings, day care providers
• ADULTS 25 to 64, who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications. These conditions include:
  • Chronic pulmonary (including asthma)
  • Cardiovascular (except hypertension), renal, hepatic, cognitive, neurologic/neuromuscular, hematological or metabolic disorders (including diabetes mellitus)
  • Immunosuppression (including immunosuppression caused by medications or by human immunodeficiency virus)
  • Receiving long-term aspirin therapy
  • Obesity, particularly morbidly obese. (Obesity is defined as body-mass index (BMI) greater than 30 and morbid obesity is defined as a BMI greater than 40. For more information on BMI, visit the CDC's BMI site.
