Important - Seasonal Flu Shot Clinics Cancelled

IMPORTANT NOTICE – Seasonal Flu Vaccine Clinics Cancelled:
Due to an overwhelming response, Amery Regional Medical Center is out of seasonal flu vaccine for ages 3 years through adult. Seasonal Flu shot clinics being held at ARMC on Tuesday, October 27 and Thursday, October 29 are cancelled. The reason for this shortage is due to increased demand & decreased production of the Seasonal Flu vaccine. This shortage is being experienced nationwide.
  • Limited Supply – 6 months to 35 months. Amery Regional Medical Center has limited supply of seasonal flu vaccine available for 6 months to 35 months – please call ahead for availability. ARMC anticipates more doses for this age group to arrive in November.
  • 3 years to ADULT. ARMC does not have any vaccine for this age group and we do not anticipate more becoming available.

H1N1 VACCINATION INFORMATION:
Amery Regional Medical Center has received a limited supply of the H1N1 vaccine for healthcare workers and pregnant women. ARMC is anticipating the H1N1 vaccine for the initial target groups soon and we will inform the public through all media vehicles (radio, newspaper, PSA-cable, and on ARMC’s website.) CDC defines the Initial Target Groups as:
  • Pregnant women
  • People who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months of age
  • Health care and emergency medical services personnel
  • People 6 months through 24 years of age
  • People 25 years through 64 years of age who have medical conditions that put them at a higher risk for influenza-related complications

High risk individuals, those who are more likely to get flu complications, are defined by the CDC as:
  • Children younger than 5, but especially children younger than 2 years old
  • People 65 and older
  • Pregnant women
  • People who have:
      • Cancer
      • Blood disorders
      • Chronic lung disease (including asthma or (COPD)
      • Diabetes
      • Heart disease
      • Kidney disorders
      • Liver disorders
      • Neurological disorders
      • Neuromuscular disorders (including muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis)
      • Weakened immune systems (including people with AIDS)
