Midwife means “With Woman.”
A Certified Nurse Midwife is a highly trained and skilled professional who empowers women in their healthcare. Midwives are known for providing quality care before, during and after pregnancy.
We encourage women and their families to actively participate in the pregnancy and delivery, helping to ease the transition of the newborn into the family’s life. In addition, midwives provide a full range of services throughout a woman’s life, including physicals, pap smears, birth control counseling and colposcopies.
What is a Midwife?
A Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) has advanced training in routine obstetrical and gynecological care. A CNM is qualified to take care of a woman during all stages of pregnancy as well as the birth itself. Midwives counsel women throughout their pregnancy as well as guidance about nutrition and newborn care. They also counsel women about their healthcare and offer options for pain relief.
Brenda Johnson, Certified Nurse Midwife, has been on staff since 1999 and not only sees patients at ARMC, but also at the Luck Medical Clinic. If you are interested in using ARMC’s Midwifery Services, please call us today at (715) 268-8000.
