--
A local chapter of The Compassionate Friends has recently been formed. Started by bereaved families in the area and supported by a gift from Amery Regional Medical Center, this group will begin meeting January 2002.
Meetings will be held on the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Clear Lake Community center. No matter what age your child died, cause of death, or how much time has passed, we invited you to attend.

Grief support after the death of a child
The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age, and to provide information to help others be supportive.
The Compassionate Friends is a national nonprofit, self-help support organization that offers friendship and understanding to bereaved parents, grandparents, and siblings. There is no religious affiliation and there are no membership dues or fees.
The secret of TCF’s success in parental and sibling bereavement is simple: As seasoned grievers reach out to the newly bereaved, energy that has been directed inward begins to flow outward and both are helped to heal. SPECIAL SERVICE
December 8th, 2002 has been designated National Children’s Memorial Day. This day has been set aside to honor all children who have left us too soon. The annual worldwide candle lighting is held on the second Sunday in December, when people around the globe light candles for one hour to honor children who have died.
The candles are lit at 7:00 p.m. local time, starting in New Zealand. As candles burn down in each time zone, they are then lit in the next. This creates a virtual 24-hour wave of light as the observance continues around the world. A local remembrance service will be held at the Clear Lake Community Center starting at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8th, 2002.
All parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends are invited to attend this time of remembrance. No matter at what age your child died, or whatever the cause of death, we welcome you to share this time of friendship and remembrance for all of our children who left us too soon. You are invited to bring a photo or memento of your child for the remembrance table. You are also welcome to bring a favorite treat of your child’s to share at coffee. The Tri-County Chapter of The Compassionate Friends sponsors this event. For additional information call (715) 263-2739
The Compassionate Friends would like to thank ARMC for their continuing support.
